A Goodreads user asked:
Why did Kvothe still seek for Denna even though he has seen her with Sovoy already? Kvothe did say that Sovoy is his friend and he wouldn't take Denna away from him, but he still goes finding her. I guess we know he is helplessly in love with her beauty. I don't like it when heroes of the story are like this...Kvothe is too flawed. Do you like Denna and do you think their chemistry worked?
This answer contains spoilers… (view spoiler)[Kvothe met her on the caravan and his fantasies of her grew - he dreamed of going to find her, of seeing her on the streets by chance, of her coming to find him at the university...she was beautiful, but she was also elusive, someone he could not truly know. She was his Eolian (her singing with him was another bonding for Kvothe). After Sovoy, Denna is the one that went looking for and found Kvothe not once, but twice. And since Kvothe doesn't come on to her, she gets to relax and be different around him, then how her life really his. Think of what Kvothe trying to describe her to Chronicler, he said under his breath "why try, nothing good can come of it" - another hint at tragedy. (hide spoiler)]

This answer contains spoilers… (view spoiler)[I don't see that he's too flawed as much as I found him overlooking her most obvious flaws and lying to himself about her. Sometime far later in the book he admits that she is cruel, but again fails to let that detract him from his shameless pursuit. It reminded me a bit of Forrest Gump where Forrest always chased Jenny around despite her obvious lack of love for herself. The big difference, Kvothe may have been the smartest man in the world and Forrest...not so much. (hide spoiler)]
