Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Stuart Fifield I am currently writing a new strand about a First War-damaged detective, who is seconded to the South African Police in Cape Town in the early 1920s. He is a complex character, with certain pshchological "problems" stemming in part from his experience in the Royal Navy during the war. In addition to solving crime, he comes face to face with the prejudices of race. This was an interesting period in South African history and makes a good backdrop to the action.
