I could have sworn I posted this yesterday. I've read other books by Dan Arenson & enjoyed them. This one, I'm not sure if I want to just call it. The unremitting brutality saps any enjoyment of the rest of the book. Does it get better? I have seen no hope. Is the series a continual beat down with no hope, no light, no salvation?

Kay I'm at the 43% mark and something good just happened. I think. It will let me make a bunch of bad poop jokes about Laira anyway (since she just crawled through a pile of mammoth poop). If all else fails, we can rejoice in this shitty deus ex machina.
