(view spoiler)[How do we know Tarabelle did not try to kill her mother instead of the other way around? Linda, the youngest child said there was "no food in there" (as she peeked) only matches and something that smelled like kerosene. This set Tara off and she raged against Linda and quickly shut the picnic basket. And our Sam, what happened to him? Thanks ahead of time. (hide spoiler)]

This answer contains spoilers… (view spoiler)[I had a similar thought about Tarabelle. When Laura mentioned what was in the basket, I thought she wanted to burn down that cabin with Rozelle in it. In a way it would make sense as something that Tara would do. Tangy named her the bravest of Rosie's children and it would be a solution to the problem of their mother. Rozelle was still as crazy as ever and I think that she was completely aware of what was going on and would have no problem with killing Tara. As for Sam, I think he ran. There's no way he could stay. It would make sense that he went with Hambone to Chicago or wherever, some city large enough for him to disappear in. They all wanted away from Rosie and I can't see him keeping in touch once he was gone. Every one who left left without really looking back. (hide spoiler)]
