Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Natalie Meg Evans
I wanted to write about a milliner because I adore hats, particularly those of the 1930's and 40's. I had to do a lot of research about hat making, and also about Paris during Nazi occupation. Once I had a character, Coralie de Lirac, and decided that instead of being a French aristo she would be a Londoner trying to make her way in the world, the beginnings of a plot emerged. Over a year of writing, that plot became more intense and detailed. Even I was shocked by the ending, however. Ha ha!
