Goodreads asked Diana Pavlac Glyer:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Diana Pavlac Glyer I love to learn, and I am curious about so many things. All my books start with questions, things I really, really want to make sense of. _Clay in the Potter's Hands_ started with the question "Why does scripture keep repeating the idea that God is the Potter and we are like clay? What does that actually mean?" _Bandersnatch_ started with the question "Are there practical lessons that we can learn from Lewis, Tolkien, and the Inklings, things that might animate our own creative process and lead to innovations and breakthroughs?" Sometimes a book starts with a problem, tension, or contradiction. For example, _The Company They Keep_ started when I read Humphrey Carpenter's account of The Inklings and became convinced he was leaving out part of their story. I wanted to know much more about the inner workings of that group! In short, writing is problem-solving for me. It's always an excuse to learn something new.
