I just got "In Defense of the Princess" recently and I was so excited to read it. I have always loved Princesses and am a feminist as well. In fact, most of the modern Disney Princesses came along when I was in my 20s - and yet I still loved them. Thank you for an empowering read!! You took the words right out of my heart. Have you seen the new Wonder Woman movie? It seems to illustrate some of what you talk about.

Hi! Thank you so much for the kind words. I have seen the Wonder Woman movie - I enjoyed it and it's about time! But I know so much about WW's backstory that I was also a little disappointed in what I felt was a weak script. I felt they focused too much on her strength rather than her empathy and wisdom - when they could have easily done all three. Still, the film broke all records for a blockbuster with a female lead and female director. But I’m not sure why this surprises anyone. Wonder Woman has ALWAYS been a fierce, feminine force to be reckoned with.
She has graced the cover of Ms. Magazine three times! Her mother is queen of the matriarchal Amazons, an ancient tribe of female warriors. Granted life by “the goddesses and the souls of women past,” the Amazons have one mission: to peacefully unite “all sexes, all races, and all creeds.”
Wonder Woman doesn’t sit around waiting for love; rather LOVE IS A POWER SHE YIELDS to save us from the dark forces of violence, greed and hate. In a world increasingly divided by all three of these – embracing her example has never been more relevant.
