Goodreads asked Sean Easley:

How do you get inspired to write?

Sean Easley To quote Faulkner: "I only write when inspiration strikes. Fortunately it strikes at nine every morning."

Honestly, though, for me inspiration comes through doing, and doing comes from sitting down at my computer and forcing my brain to engage. If I can muddle through working when I don't feel the inspiration, the inspiration will often join me a little later. Fashionably late to the party, I guess.

None of the good ever comes before the work. What starts as an entirely "uninspired" manuscript can become "inspired" through a lot of long man-hours.
