Goodreads asked John David Lionel Brooke:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

John David Lionel Brooke I’m a Pantser writing hell for leather into my story, this works okay for me when writing flash fiction or a short story but novel writing using seat of the pants approach eventually runs into trouble. I have to stop, organize and write out the various timelines of the action and their delated details. This abruptly halts the flow of my story. I become blocked, and believe me its hell. For novels or any work over 50,000 words I’m striving to become a Plotter before writing anything. When this writers block strikes I go to other projects I’m working on as I work out the chronology of the actions/chapters in my novel. on the side.
