Goodreads asked Erik Henry Vick:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Erik Henry Vick Scotch.

Maybe it was that blow to the head...

Sometimes, I trot on down to the local hardware store and pick up a few ideas, some Spackle, and maybe a quart of chartreuse paint.

My most recent book has changed quite a bit since I started writing it. It started as a way to regain some sanity after being disabled by a chronic illness. After 300 pages or so, the characters mutinied and and started to tell me what the book was really going to be about.

Most of my ideas came while in the shower, or in the middle of the night. Anywhere, really, as long as writing them down was tremendously inconvenient.
