Dan Williams Of the myriad mysteries in my life, one plot could be derived from the unfathomable moron hive mind active in the masses at the supermarket when they queue miles down the aisles while entire rows of handheld self checkout counters which make the process one short transaction long and obviate the need for items to be scanned at the counter, remain empty and unused. Is it a hormonal flocking signal that gets sent and which some deficient gene in me causes me to miss? Is it that the handheld scanners slowly poison their users and only I didn't get the memo? Is everyone just afraid of technology? Stay tuned...
