Do you ever take family members (their personality and traits), and use them for characters in your books?

I sometimes name a character after a family member or friend, but the character doesn't have anything to do with the real person. Only once have I used the personality of a family member for a character by a different name--the character called Swede in NATIVE GOLD was modeled after my husband's cousin Khris.
