He has woke me up in the middle of the night countless times typing on my hip in his sleep. Its always worse after not having computers for a while. lol

Katie DeVogelaere <html> is easy to learn! and gives you options for additional mark-up in your comments. Observe this bold link using the tags <strong> and <a> HTML Basics!

message 126: by Logan (new)

Logan hypertxt markup language!

message 127: by Wayne (new)

Wayne Tilden HTML? Does anyone use it anymore? Is it necessary with things such as WordPress? I used to know it somewhat and even had "The Idiots' Guide to HTML". I got rid of it when I was no longer creating web pages, etc. "from scratch".

message 128: by Deborah (new)

Deborah Lightfoot I, too, "know enough to get by on GoodReads." I can ital book titles and create clickable links. Now I find that a little HTML knowledge has helped me personalize my book page at http://members.authorsguild.net/waterspell. Although the Authors Guild "Sitebuilder" program provides templates and various customizable layouts, I use basic HTML to better achieve the look I'm after.

I'm in the "professional" category... I design web-based software for my job, but I've been using html since I was about 10. I'm a computer geek to the core. :)

I'd say HTML is still completely necessary if you want to do more than make links or italicize text on your blog. I personally don't like using web-design tools like Wordpress - they're too restrictive both technically and creatively, and they generate horrendous code. At work all I (and the other developers) use is a syntax-highlighting text editor. The sky's the limit when you can code "from scratch". (plus I think it's more fun that way!) So yes I - and many others - still use HTML. For about 8 hours every week day in fact.

message 131: by Maiven (new)

Maiven Lee Had to choose between "Yes" and "I know a little bit." I chose the later, mainly because I don't know how much HTML is out there.

I know italicize, bold, underline, links, images, and a few more . . but who knows what all is out there XD

message 137: by YVONNE (new)

RICKMAN YVONNE I read the post's some made me [LOL]! (smiles) While others made me feel that I was at the bottom of the class!

message 138: by Marissa (new)

Marissa We took a class in middle school that taught basic HTML- italics, bold, underline, colors, links, pics...

It seems so tedious and detailed.... I'm surprised that computers don't use something simpler, something more people would be able to know and understand

message 139: by Jilly (new)

Jilly Paddock I know enough to format a book for Kindle using it, which gives more control over the finished product than uploading in Word.

message 140: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer I've worked with HTML for around 15 years or so... self taught :)

message 143: by Jayden (new)

Jayden WHAT???

message 144: by Nicole (new)

Nicole I use to know enough to build a simple web page and help program a simple robot, but I haven't used anything that complex in years, so I don't remember much past the basics. I really want to refresh myself and learn CSS and Java, but that'll probably take awhile it get around to.
