Hello Everyone,

I would love to have your opinion in this hypothetical situation. So imagine you have an average car and two people are asking to borrow this car from you on the same day - person A and person B.

Person A is very polite and respectful. They inform you days before borrowing, are very understanding if you refuse, and are probably gonna return it on time. They would also probably return the car just as it is without even refilling the gas.

Person B is very blunt and a bit disrespectful. They inform you a day before, criticized your car in its design and size, is not understanding if you refuse and is probably not gonna return the car on time.
But they refill the car fully, pay for the maintenance, repair any defects and would clean it fully inside out before returning.

Person A and person B are equally close to you (which isn’t that much), they have the same financial and time conditions.

So, who will you give the car to ? Can you pls comment your reasoning ?

Person A

  67 votes, 72.8%

Person B

  25 votes, 27.2%

Sophie Ok so I feel like- idk, I would just suck it up and let the person who's going to get your car primped borrow it, you say person A is respectful and stuff, but are they really if they're not even gonna fill up your gas??

message 2: by persephone ☾ (new)

persephone ☾ I would say Person A but i think you should tell them that the only condition would be to refill the car before returning it to you !

To deal with Person B's discontentment you could just tell them that Person A asked way before them, and that next time they would want to borrow the car, they should ask at least 3 days prior (for instance)

Hope this helps <3

message 3: by Aazra (new)

Aazra (Ginormous hiatus) Person A cause the other one has no right to criticize my car🙄

That’s a very optimistic thinking !

Person A informed you before, that means you haven’t given replied yet.

yeah i thought the same thing

Tina's Bookish Life I mean since you don't care much for either person but you're letting one of them borrow it anyways I say give it to Person B and at least benefit by getting your car pimped up😏

message 15: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Tyler If you just talked sh*t about my car, then had the audacity to ask to borrow my answer would be hell no. So I'm giving it to person A

Aazra (Ginormous hiatus) Lauren wrote: "If you just talked sh*t about my car, then had the audacity to ask to borrow my answer would be hell no. So I'm giving it to person A"

EXACTLY

kelsie (taylor's version) Are you sure this is hypothetical?? Its *very* specific xD

But it depends on how much money you have. If you have a good amount, Person A - they have been kinder about it. But if you're short on money, Person B - they will fix up your car for you for free!

retrometro (ocelot’s version) i think person b because:
- they are are bit rude, but i would probably not be too bothered by that.
- they are going to return my car fully cleaned, have it MOT'ed, fix any defects and refill it to a full tank.
- yeah they might have talked absolute shit about my car, but they're the one asking to borrow it. if you think my car is shit then go ask someone else for their car. also i actually wouldn't care if they talked shit about it because at the end of the day it's a car.
- they might not return it on time? probably because of all the stuff they've had done to it, WITHOUT ME EVEN ASKING. they've just saved me a load of money, so at the end of the day, i have to thank them.

these are just my opinions lol

message 19: by julia (new)

julia Person A seems like a better friend and maybe you can ask them to tank it etc.

message 21: by Shawna (new)

Shawna Finnigan A car is expensive and a big deal so I'd only lend it to people who treated me well, which in this case is person A. I understand that person B may take better care of the car, but I wouldn't lend anything to anyone who treated me like that

message 22: by Unknown (new)

Unknown Reader Hello Everyone,

Thanks a lot for your opinion.

This debate was actually based on Pride vs Materialism. Of course, choosing person A means you chose pride over materialism and vice Versa for person B.

As of now, 59 people have voted. 40 people have voted for person A (67.8%) and 19 people have voted for person B (32.2%).

There is no correct answer, as these both has good and bad in them.

Choosing person A means you’re prideful but not materialistic. Therefore you’ll give the car to someone who respects you but won’t provide you any benefits.

Choosing person B means you’re materialistic but not prideful. Therefore, you’ll give the car to someone who hurt your pride but gives you benefit.

Like I said, both are equally good and bad, there’s no right answer. It’s all based on opinion.

But I guess, majority people here are prideful over being materialistic.
Which makes sense, materials disappears eventually but your pride remains with you.

sephora ౨ৎ⸆⸉ i would arrange for the two to travel together, satisfying both needs. or maybe that's cheating :/

My thoughts exactly. Do NOT loan out your car unless it is to a family member in an emergency. You can get in a world of trouble doing this. Especially never loan your car to some RUDE person. Tell them to go away. If you drive a stick shift most people won't ask.
COOL CHICKS DRIVE STICKS!

message 25: by Kristine (new)

Kristine Person A asked first and you think this is a person you can trust and respect,. Perhaps, it would be nice if Person A refilled the gas, but this is really the only negative mentioned. It is a small incident. Your car would be covered under your insurance if anything happened. Person A asks and will understand if you can not lend your car. So, all around sounds like the person you can rely on.

Person B is rude and does not consider your feelings about lending the car. So, need a car and willing to get it jazzed up for you when returned. Still, if you do not even value this person and find them intrusive, that would not be someone I would go out of my way for. Any promises Person B makes, I would not even be too sure they would happen and if so, only for self-serving reasons. That’s not a friend, that’s a user.

message 26: by Nishkha (new)

Nishkha I would say person A
They asked first, and they seem understanding and I am sure if you asked them for maintaining the car they wouldn't mind

message 27: by Just (new)

Just a dreamer Person B

There might be things actually wrong with the car and as long as they're taking care of my car afterwards, I have no problem.
( Most of my friends are like person B, they might critize sometimes but they take the best care of me and my things.)

message 28: by Bea (new)

Bea I feel it really depends on how far you can tolerate that someone. For me Person B is more profitable, just have to swallow down the rudeness a bit but if you think it would affect your relationship with that person, better just go for Person A.

message 29: by Maddie :) (new)

Maddie :) Person A. I don’t deal with assholes. I don’t have a lot of pride or dignity, left that behind in middle school and early high school. But what I do have I won’t give up to Person B

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

person a. they seem like a nice and understanding person, and it is completely reasonable to ask for gas to be refilled after borrowing. it's the least they can do <3
