I will be her guard until one of us dies.
“No creature is safe from me if it wishes to harm you, Mayumi, and I will make sure it suffers for ever touching you.”
If I cannot have her soul, then I want everything else. Faunus wanted to consume her. To consume her thoughts, her heart, her body. He wanted them to be his, to nibble at every part of her essence until every cell in her body remembered him owning it. Even after he was gone.
She was all he had left in the world.
I want to take everything and make it mine. Faunus wanted every strand of hair, every bit of flesh, every drop of blood, every cell, every fibre that belonged to Mayumi to be his. He wanted to greedily consume it and have her consume him in return.
“I can feel the end, Mayumi.” He leaned into her touch. “It may not be today, or tomorrow, or even a year from now, but something could happen that will break it further. I am weakened, and I cannot bear knowing that if I bonded with you, I could destroy you along with me. I came here to protect your life, even if it is at the cost of my own. I won’t take even a single second that is meant to be given to you.”
She’d unknowingly been his salvation. He gripped her muscular thigh tightly, never wanting to let it go, as he said, “I am inexplicably drawn to you, Mayumi.”
I want to be more than just destruction and death. I want to be pleasure and life too. I want to share that with only you.”
What was the point of his humanity then, if he couldn’t have the one creature he’d sworn to protect? The one creature he’d grown to... love.
Faunus desperately wanted to live.
Are Mavka not allowed to experience true happiness?
I have chosen to just... live, so long as it is by your side. No matter how long that may be. That is all I have wanted since this happened to me.”
The fate of her bloodline rested in her hands, and instead, she’d gone and fallen for a monster – one who may not be here for much longer.
I had planned to go into the forest and pull my skull apart myself. It would be easy too.
I was brought into this world alone, I have lived it alone, and it is best that I leave it alone.” Alone.
It hurts. Why does it have to hurt so much? Could his final moments not be filled with pain? He was riddled with it, both inside and out.
I came here to protect her. His grip on the whip line tightened. My life is already fading. His heart pounded in fear at what he was about to do. Nothing can change my fate. His breaths huffed in and out rapidly to take in courage as though it was in the air. I will not watch her die and do nothing.
