“Sometimes leaving is easier.
“You should never have to beg someone to be ready for a future,”
Stop looking at her or she’ll be the last thing you ever fucking see.”
This is my version of her. The one where she’s comfortable and casual at home and I don’t want to share her.
“Half of my income though…” I continue. “I donate to charity.” “Really? Where to?” “Well, currently I’m housing this flight attendant who is terrible at cleaning up after herself. Total charity case. Tragic story, really.”
Indy reaches for the door handle, but I click the lock in place before she can get to it. Brown eyes roll with exaggeration when the door refuses to open for her. Call me old-fashioned, I don’t care, but I have yet and will not let her open her own door.
“You make me feel relaxed. Like I can be myself.”
“You’re chaotic as fuck, Blue, but you bring me more peace than anyone else.”
She inhales deeply. “Ryan?” “Hmm?” “Why do you smell like coconut?”
But to look at me as if I’m the most forgettable woman in the world hurts more than the rest ever could.
Acting my ass.
constantly spending money on flowers that will die shortly after bringing them home, but every cent is worth it when I get to watch that beaming smile bloom when she sees them. The girl deserves to be spoiled, and I want to be the one doing the spoiling.
“Get your fucking hands off her.”
“Next time you decide you need help with your…situation,” he murmurs against my lips with an aching rasp. “Ask me.”
Zanders thought about asking for your help, but I told him not to. I wanted you to have fun without worrying if everyone else is too.”
Fuck it. That’s exactly what I need to do. Stop overanalyzing this whole situation. Stop wondering if I’ve honored my past feelings long enough to move on. Just have fun.
“Good God.” I throw my head back. “Book boyfriend material.” “I have no idea what that means.” “Just agree with me.”
We ride it out together, ecstasy and euphoria buzzing between us.
My little clean freak. He pulls the comforter up to my chin. “Try to get some sleep. I’m going to make you something to eat.” Brushing my hair away from my face, he places a soft kiss on my damp forehead.
It’s an overwhelming realization to have, that I truly want no part of the life I once wanted.
Call me dramatic, but last night’s realizations messed me up. Ryan has lived through a pregnancy with a woman he thought he loved, anticipating their future and family. He spent nine months loving a child that wasn’t his. How do you come back from that? It’s no wonder he’s guarded and untrusting.
“Until you.”
I don’t give a fuck if you don’t need to save money anymore, you’re not leaving.” “That sounds very kidnap-y of you.” “Don’t tempt me.”
“So, are we done with the whole bullshit conversation about you moving out?” Ocean eyes drop to my mouth. “But I spend a lot of your money.” “Someone needs to.” “And I’m messy. You don’t like messy.” “I like your mess.” “And I’m needy. I have no idea how to be alone.” “Good. I don’t want you to be alone. I want you to be with me.” His eyes fall to my throat, watching it work its way through a swallow. “Come home with me, Blue.”
I love this kind of control. He’s a strong man, but weak for me.
Touch her and I’ll kill you. Say something that makes her upset and I’ll ruin your life. Look at her inappropriately and I will beat the living shit out of you.
but I didn’t know the bar was on the floor until Ryan Shay walked into my life and quietly raised it to the fucking moon.
I don’t want polite. I want him to demand then tell me how well I’m doing.
“I love that you read romance novels to feel something. I love that you love flowers and plants because nurturing and allowing something to grow is second nature to you. I love that you experience every emotion so hard it takes over your entire body. But baby, I want to be the one to make you feel how your favorite books do. I want to be the one to give you children to nurture and grow. When you think of me, the only emotion I want you to feel is unconditional, earth-shattering love. Because when I look at you, I see my entire future and I can’t stand to live in a world where you look at me

And I can’t wait to watch you turn this house into a home just like you did with the apartment.”
You said you felt uncomfortable for someone else paying for you to start a family. Well, it’s going to be my family too, so I don’t count.”
ago. I’m proud of her though. If I were an outsider looking in and saw the way I reacted to thinking she was pregnant, I’d want her to leave me too.
I don’t know where you came from or how I got so lucky to be loved by you, but Ryan, I adore you.”
“You are. You deserve every little thing you manage to dream for yourself. I hated being away from you, Ind, but I loved seeing you stand up for the things you want. Don’t stop doing that. Even if it’s me you’re facing off with, don’t settle for less.”
“What do you say, Shay? Want to be my roomie? Hide away with me in this big, beautiful house?” “I think that sounds like the right move.”
Her coconut soap lingers on her skin, and I inhale as much as I can, reminding my body that she’s here. That we’re okay.
“Easier access for you,” she breathes out.
“You got your team to the playoffs tonight.” “Is this my reward?” “One of them.” She kisses my throat. “You're going to have lots of rewards, Shay. I figured it is only fair that since you bought me a house, I should blow you in every room of it.”
“Tell me that every part of you is mine.” “Yes. I’m yours. I’ll always be yours.”
