It’s too much to ask that we are typical among all observers in the universe, because that’s making a strong claim about parts of the universe we’ve never observed. But we can at least say that we are typical among observers exactly like us—that is, observers with the basic physiology and the same set of memories that we have, the same coarse-grained experience of the universe.
