Keep in mind that there really is no such thing as “the position of the object” or “the momentum of the object”—there is only a wave function assigning amplitudes to the possible outcomes of observations. Nevertheless, we often can’t resist falling into the language of quantum fluctuations—we say that we can’t pin the object down to a single position, because the uncertainty principle forces it to fluctuate around just a bit.
