Because in the cold light of day, if I had to choose, I know who it would be. I wouldn’t have to think twice. It’s River. Every star in the night sky would have to burn out before it isn’t River.
If I could keep my distance, get this shit sorted out…then I could crawl on my hands and knees back to him and beg him and whoever might listen to take me back.
At this rate, nothing short of a full lobotomy is going to erase the pain of seeing them together.
But how the fuck do you survive your heart being ripped from your chest and thrown into a blender? Your lungs being popped, deflated and then flooded with poison? Your brain being transfixed on every smell, kiss, touch, taste you shared with the person who owns every inch of your being, only to now live every single day of your life without them?
It just goes to show parents, while they have the opportunity to shape us into amazing people, they also have to power to irrevocably fuck us up with as little as a few words or actions. Or in this case, lack thereof.
My mouth is quick to mold back to his, allowing my tongue to fuck his mouth like it’s the last thing it will ever do. And goddammit, it just might be because living without him is killing me slowly.
