I thought back to the note I’d left him. It was short, precise, and to the point. Just two words. Fuck You.
“No, thank you, I know where everything is. You come in here, and I won’t even know where the hell my underwear is.” He pointed at me. “Don’t touch my shit, Enzo. We’ve had this talk. Boundaries.”
It just feels like there’s always something more important than me out there. To everyone I know.
“What if I wanted to leave right now?” I asked, my lips against his, dying to feel him kiss me more. “I’ve given you plenty of chances. I won’t hand out anymore.”
Enzo grabbed my phone, shoved it into the hem of his pants, and picked up his mug. He sipped at it, walking away before he tugged open a drawer and began digging.
I raised a brow at him. “You’re going to keep pretending you don’t hear me, aren’t you?” Enzo glanced at me and smiled. “What do you like to eat the most?” Fuck. He’s so cute.
I want to keep him.
“I didn’t say I was staying with you.” I grabbed a bag and began neatly filling it with clothes. “I don’t recall asking.”
“I know, Pen, we’re getting kidnapped, but don’t you worry. Enzo has a nice-looking couch for you to scratch up.”
“You’re shit at listening.” I grabbed another box and handed it to him. “I’m never letting you go, Tex Caster.”
My mouth turned down in a frown. “I wouldn’t. I have a knife on me at all times.” “That’s… Fuck, that’s hot.”
“I really am going to make you mine.” A shiver passed through me. “You’re crazy.” “You have no idea.”
Gin put the cat down and raised his hands. “I’m not making a move on him. I’m just checking.” Gin audibly swallowed. “He still alive?”
“You know what you have to do.” I shook my head. “He’s mine.” “Enzo—” “Gin, lui è il mio tutto.”
“Shit,” I groaned. “Are you trying to kill me?” “Yes.” I blinked up at him as I doubled over, using my knees for support. “At least you’re honest.”
“Enzo,” I growled. “Shut the fuck up,” he snapped. “I’m trying my hardest not to fucking kill you right now.”
“You know what they say. If you love something, let it free or some shit like that.” I shook my head. “That is ridiculous. It should be, if you love something, lock it away so that it never escapes.”
Enzo was the most important thing in my life. I only wanted to focus on him.
“Shut up,” I snapped at him. “Just shut up before you fucking bleed out on my leg.”
“Yeah,” I muttered. “I love you.” My eyes snapped right back open. “What?” Enzo’s eyes were starting to close, the medicine kicking in. “I love you,” he slurred slightly. “Stay with me.” My heart raced. Did I just hear that? Enzo searched my face, his tired eyes looking for something. I licked my lips. “Fuck. I think I love you too,” I whispered.
I love you more than I’ve ever loved another human being in my life.
Lying around and healing was for the weak.
“Enzo, I hate that I love you,” Tex said.
“We should go on a date,” he blurted out.
“From now on, I’m the only one allowed to hurt you or make you cry. Every inch of you belongs to me.” I bit his lip. “Even your life.” Tex groaned. “Yeah. Where do I sign, Satan?”
“No idea. I had to move fast because your brother is a nutcase.” “Hey,” Enzo called. “It’s the truth,”
