Emillion once told me he’d tried to poison me for three months before realizing it was impossible to evade the Fae magic. I wasn’t sure if I was impressed by his persistence or questioned the integrity of his brain matter.
“I have many, many scars, but I do not cower from them. They have hardened me—made me stronger. If anyone stares, you stare right back at them, strong and proud.”
“Do you not wish to come out and play, darling?”
I supposed if I had to choose a way to die, there were worse ways than at the hands of a handsome devil. At least that’s what I thought the Fae to be, for no rose could look that breathtaking and not have hidden thorns.
Yes, he looked like the embodiment of sex and beauty, but some modesty wouldn’t hurt.
“I AM the stars and the moon.”
“It will be troublesome if you fall madly in love with me.” He tapped his finger against my nose. “Please refrain from it.”
“Only in your dreams will you ever see me naked.” Calstar winked. “You would be lucky to grace my bed, even if only in dreams.”
“You can hide a snake in a flower field, but its venom is just as poisonous.”
“Every dark night sky could use more stars like you.”
“Do not give in to despair. There is too much beauty in this world to live in sadness.”
“Despair is momentary, but scars are forever.
“Sometimes when we push others away, it is our loudest cry that we need them,”
“While there is life, there is time. Time to change and choose to be better.”
“I am still mad at you.” “Good. I also have more words to scream at your face.”
“Zurilya! I told you to run.” “Then you are a fool for thinking I would,” I said. “The universe could rip us apart, and I would bend it to my will so I may find you.”
“You know, I now realize I never knew how to love before you.”
Should I tell him that we met in another lifetime? Would he even believe me?
We were undone and redone by the universe itself.
