“Why did you take me?” she finally asked, shuddering at the thought of what might have been.
To save you from the douche, o-b-v-i-o-u-s-l-y
“I shouldn’t have left him alive.”
Nope.
Keira looked at the mighty beast before her and suppressed a shudder.
YOU KEPT SAYING YOU WERENT SCARED.
“I know,” she replied softly. ““I believe you, even though you terrify me.”
She’s crazy. That’s final.
“Touch me,” the dragon said softly. “Feel my scales and know that my strength protects you.” Keira stretched out a trembling hand and gently placed it against the dragon’s neck, her hand small against the giant.
Is this seriously...you know what, I’m just going to do with it
Moving slowly, she walked along the dragon’s length and down to its tail. The dragon lifted it slightly in response to her touch, then smacked it back on the ground.
LIKE A DOG OMG
“You already know the answers, my sweet, because you already know me, as I know you.
A-Aron!!! Who else calls you his sweet?? Huh?
“Say it,” he said. “Your heart already knows the answer.” “Aaron,” she said softly. “Your name is Aaron Drake.” The dragon gazed at her for a long moment, his eyes burning into hers as she stared back.
Yes. Aaron Drake. Aaron Dragon. The guy who like keeps saving you.
“Keep looking away,” she heard Aaron call. “I need to clothe myself.” She waited a moment, her face turned away, until she heard his footsteps approaching. She turned back to him slowly, shy and uncertain, but when he pulled her into his arms and softly kissed her,
Ahh, such a gentleman.
“Do you eat people?” “Yes, amongst other things. And never the innocent,” he replied, his gaze unwavering.
HOW DO YOU LOVE SOMEONE WHO EATS PEOPLE??? He’s not like leaving them alive. He’s EATING then.
Keira gulped, closing her eyes. “How old are you?” she asked.
Ahh, this reminds me of twilight. EXCEPT EDWARD, well, I guess he was killing animals. Carry on.
“So can you breathe flame when you look like this?” she asked a moment later. “I can – look.” He lifted his hand and held it a few inches from his mouth, then blew out a stream of flame. It curled around his hand and dissipated.
That could come in handy. I don’t really know how, but it could one day.
He snorted softly. “You’ll have a hard time convincing them of that. People can be quite obdurate when it comes to changing their beliefs.”
LIKE HER MOTHER
“Saved you?” Mother gasped. “How can you say that? Dragons are dangerous predators that love to eat girls like you. What has that creature done to twist your mind like this? Edmund told us how he almost lost his life fighting the dragon as he tried to save you. Why are you making up these lies?”
Why don’t YOU marry him?
“Mother, Edmund was going to rape me. The dragon saved me from him. He is the one who is lying.”
HOLY MOLY. Time for the breathing fire power
Keira gasped in surprise – women were never invited to speak for themselves, but no sooner had he said the words than the reeve quickly dismissed the suggestion.
Oh yes Aaron
“Thank you for coming forward to defend my daughter’s honor,” he said softly.
Well...you could have too you know
On an impulse, she grabbed a knife and scored her skin over the vein so the blood welled up on her wrist. Tentatively, she placed her mouth over the wound and sucked the blood from her arm. It had a faintly metallic taste that she didn’t find completely unpleasant.
But why
“I am the clan leader,” he said.
Duh of course he is 😂😂
“Well, then, it’s all settled,” he said as Mother gaped in shock. “We’ll post the announcement of your wedding. Have you named the date?”
Her father is so cool
Aaron turned to look at her with incredulity. “Not banish him because of you? Of course I’ll banish him because of you! You’re my wife, but more than that, you are my very life, and his treatment of you will absolutely not be tolerated. This is just one more in a long line of defiant acts, but mark my words, it will be the last.”
Don’t even fight it girl. He’s maaaddd
“I know,” he whispered into her ear. “I love you, too.” She looked up in surprise, and he met her gaze with a wry smile. “But don’t think I’m not still annoyed with you.”

Father’s jaw clenched in anger, but he returned Aaron’s gaze steadily. “Is he dead?” “Yes.” At Aaron’s response, some of the tension left Father’s shoulders, and he nodded again.
