To The Grave

“Remember the snow globe though?” His forehead is etched with a desperate plea. I narrow my eyes and nod. “Yes, sometimes we need to shake things up to see how it will settle because, more often than not, the next time it lands, it’s even more beautiful than before.”

I care because that’s what we should do. We should care about each other and be kind. Listen when people are afraid or nervous. Hold their hands when they’re unsure.” He shrugs and squeezes my hand across the table. “Kindness isn’t something we should ever ration.”

Three women that are wild about each other, that believe in each other fiercely, that love each other unshakably. A chosen sisterhood, proving time and time again that blood will always be thicker than water.

“Sisters...by...choice,” I manage to gasp, then I look at Theo. “Love...by accident.”

No one knows you like your friends, your chosen family. There’s transparency that exists in true friendship. An honesty. A genuine love. Why else would we choose to spend time with someone over and over again? They know our opinions and frustrations. Our struggles and our dreams. They know how we love and often, know exactly what we like. Women are complex. Not complicated—don’t misunderstand. We have layers and depths we share in pieces with the world. We hide things too. Not to be secretive but to protect those we love most.
