“Run from me, I’ll chase you. Challenge me, I’ll break you.” Fresh tears fill her eyes, and I’m not sure if they’re in surrender or fear. It doesn’t matter. “I’ll never set you free, little demon. It’s best you understand that now.” She licks her wet lips. “Because I’d hate to have to kill us both.” If I can’t have her, no one will. But I also would never want to survive in a world where she doesn’t exist. Death would be heaven compared to a life without her being mine.
