“Nothing about love makes sense,”
“Have you never battled internally? Thought you did the right thing, stuck to your decision, then realized you might be wrong?”
Love blinds your brain and binds your will, and once it takes hold, you become a slave to it.
I am.” He moved closer and kneeled before her. Her lips parted slightly. “I, Samyaza, commander of the Vincula legion and heir to the Aravoth throne, promise to protect you in this life and the next. If I fail, I will find you in the aether.”
“I’m kind, not nice, and I don’t act tough. I am.
“I am not the one who wears a collar in my relationships.”
“Being a decent person does not make me soft,”
“Aemas and Lora lost their SON to the realms and sent their KNIGHT to protect it.”
“We think he is the son, and Jophiel is the knight.”
“Are you trying to get laid?”
“I have always been enamored with you,” he murmured. “Even when I wished you would burn in hell for your crimes.”
“You are terrible at this.”
“I would have followed you to hell and burned beside you for eternity, Aurora Raven. When I looked into your hate-filled eyes that fateful day in my throne room, my heart was no longer my own. I just didn’t know it yet.”
“Will you marry me?” Silence. “What if I don’t want you to?” she had asked him the day she regained her memories. The beating in his chest was so loud it could be heard in the aether. “You are an arrogant fool,” she said hoarsely. “But you’re my arrogant fool. Yes.”
I’m still a normal person who had a tiny case of cold feet.”
as a palace maid, and she was quitting because a handsome Angel told her to. She would be lying if she said the man didn’t consume her every thought while at work. Her memories of him didn’t exist when at home, but here, she often walked with her head down to scan the floor for cats. “I’m losing it,” she muttered. What would it be like to have someone like Sam interested in her? Not that she needed to worry about it. He looked like someone who liked his women young with perky bodies, and while she wasn’t old, she was no spring chicken, nor was her body perky.
Sam’s wings flared wide at his father’s words. “Seraphim do not have mates.” His father smiled sadly. “Every day, your mother visited the Hall of Fates to watch you, and every day her heart broke more and more. She knew a piece of your soul had died and petitioned Moira to grant you a mate. Her hope was that a mate would help you heal and give you a reason to live, not just exist.”
Moira was the Fate of Aravoth. She controlled the destiny of every being in the kingdom and all realms under its jurisdiction.
Sam stood with the maid in his arms, and beside him was a man the same size as him, with jet-black wings covering his face, leaving only his mouth and black eyes exposed. Two large black wings protruded from his back, and another set of wings covered his legs. The skin on his arms and chin was white as snow, and Caius stared in awe.
