‘Well, let’s drink to autumn, to long, cool evenings, and to new friends.’
At least she was back in control. She had her own place, her own job. No one telling her where to go, what to do, when to get up, what to wear, when and how to spend her money.
Autumn was the best season, she thought. Fine weather, beautiful colours, but also a season of change, of fresh starts.
but part of her was dreading it all being done, because then she would have time left to think, and when she had time to think, she began to doubt everything.

‘Well, let’s help you concentrate on the things you can do.
It still counts as the same glass if you haven’t completely finished it.’
‘Sometimes it’s all right just to let the world pass by,’ Angela said. ‘None of us can stop it, after all. Just enjoy the passing moments. Be happy for what we have, and don’t pine on what we don’t.
The only reason you’re looking back is because you’re worried about looking forward.
No reason to be worrying about the past when the future’s got so much going for it.’
