It’s instructive to note that the English word sacrifice is made up of two Latin words: the verb facere which means “to make,” and the noun sanctus, which means “holy.” This means that to love sacrificially is to make holy not only the one being loved, but the one who loves; not only the one being served, but the one who serves.
