I’m ready for our future with Archie as an added bonus. She just needs to restore her belief in me, starting now.
“This alpha peacocking is super cute, but we have things to do. Make nice so we can move along.”
“That’s mighty noble of you.” “Sometimes I surprise myself.”
“What’s this, Brax?” I gesture to my discovery. His smile is lopsided, and a bit sad. “All that matters.” My head feels too bloated, and I sag under the weight. How can I resist him? This is romantic catnip. “You don’t have a couch or dining table, but you kept all this stuff?” “Material crap can be replaced. We can’t.”
Meadow Creek’s sweethearts are back in action. My faith in true love has been restored.”
If she isn’t Peppy, I don’t want her.
“I’m offended on your behalf. You shouldn’t be expected to always do the changing just because you’re a woman. What if I came here without you? How would I change little man’s poopy butt?”
“Why does that make me sound like a fluff puff?” More so, why shouldn’t I be all those things? “You mispronounced adorable.”
This is what I’ve longed for, more than I can ever admit. It’s a single mother’s dream to have her son accepted by a man who isn’t his father. Mason did so from the first instant. He provides boundless affection where we needed it most. This is just another example of how wonderful he is for us. More so, he’s given my son the gift of sharing his favorite hobby.
I clutch a palm to my chest. “You two are so stinking cute.” He narrows his eyes while crooking a finger at me. “You mispronounced manly.”
“You’re my dream, Pep. You and Archie.”
“No, Pep. I’m gainfully employed. If I leave, I’ll be sacrificing my happiness. Surrendering my soul. I can’t do that again. I can’t truly live without you. I’d just merely exist and survive.”
