“My last years as a librarian I spent most of my time at the downtown library policing the homeless and mentally ill. Don’t get me wrong. Many came to the library seeking help getting jobs and getting back on their feet. They weren’t the problems I had to deal with. The problems were those who came to use the computers to watch porn, play with themselves, and defecate all over the bathrooms. When I stepped in, they threatened me.
