Because that one simple kiss was everything.
his voice nearly a whisper when he says, “Please don’t kick me out, Rhett. Not yet.”
“I don’t want you to leave. Why would you think . . . ?” Right. Because I’m the dick who kicked him out after we kissed.
“I want you to stay for a while. Talk more.” The surprise in his eyes nearly guts me. God, I’m such a dick.
“What are you doing to me?”
our legs intertwining while I try like hell to fight my heart getting just as wrapped up as my legs. But I think I might have already failed at that.
“You’re not my secret, Rhett. If I could, I’d scream it from the rooftops that you fucked the shit out of me this weekend.”
Because when he does that and kisses me like this, I can trick myself into believing I belong to him.
I know it’s going to hurt like hell when he leaves, but I also know there’s no way he can stay.
“I’m sorry. I swear, I don’t give him details he begs for or say anything about you. I just can’t seem to keep my eyes off your brother, and you’re usually right next to him.”
“You came to my game,” I say dreamily, and his smile warms places in me I didn’t even know existed.
This is my destiny. Making my grumpy guy smile.
“Go away.”
“I can’t stop thinking about you. I know why we can’t say anything, but it’s hard, and I fucking hate it.”
“Grayson,”
“You’re so goddamn beautiful. Tell me if you want me to stop.”
“This place is special to me. I hate that I can’t give you everything I want to, but I can at least give you access to this place.” Where we were happy.
“You are beautiful.”
No matter what, though, even if he tries, I’ll be there to put him back together, just like he’s done for me.
