It wasn’t like mainstream, white-centering American culture was any better. It seemed to her that women were endlessly objectified, consumerism ruled their desires, and addictions were encouraged then stigmatized. Not to mention how we’re all running around with our faces in our phones, constantly searching for something more, something better, something new.
