His eyebrows furrowed. “So today was your second-best day?” “Yeah.” “You said top five. But it was number two?” Without question. He’d brought me my favorite coffee. He’d visited me all morning for kiss after kiss. Knox had made me feel special. Wanted. After he’d talked to Lester, he’d come to tell me first. And then tonight . . . Maybe I was giving away too much. Old Memphis would have played it differently. But I wasn’t playing. Not anymore. “It was a really good day,” I said.
He strode toward me, taking my face in his hands. “Then here’s another truth. I’m going to take them. I’m going to take all of your bests. Every damn one until you can’t keep track of the top five anymore because there are so many bests that you’ll need a hundred to capture them all.”
I wanted a day with them. A full day, no distractions. Just another normal day to show her how good normal could be.
a flash he picked me up and set me on the island. A fork went sailing, clattering to the floor. Then he stepped in between my legs, holding my gaze, our noses touching. “Let me make this clear. You are mine. Drake is mine. For all of your todays and each of your tomorrows. Mine. Do you not want me?”
“Because he wakes up before dawn,” Griffin muttered, pulling out a stool. “My boy’s a morning kid.” “Not mine.” Knox pulled out the stool beside his brother. “Mine’s a night owl.” The entire room went still as my breath caught in my throat.
Mine. One short word, four simple letters, and if there’d been any doubt that I was in love with Knox Eden, it vanished. I loved him because he loved Drake.
I nodded, blinking away the tears. Happy tears. “This is the third.” “The third what?” “The third-best day.” A magnificent smile stretched across his face. “Like I said, honey. I’ll take them all.” I stood on my toes, stretching for his lips. “Promise?” “I swear it.”
