The second point about a light coming on was . . . So what? The kind of thing I was scared of wasn’t going to be intimidated by a light. I’d just be able to see it better before it ate me.

Even in my wildest fantasies (which had included such scenes as Bill breaking up with Selah in Merlotte’s, and his subsequent public confession to me that Selah had never measured up to my charms), I’d never envisioned such a reaction.
Oh. Male pride.
He rubbed his huge head against me, almost knocking me down, and he purred. He sounded like a happy Geiger counter.
