The only right you have with anyone in this life is the right to walk away.
I’m taking off a fastening clip, and I think what if I break it? We’re never going to get another one. What if I fuck it up, and it turns out we need it later on? For this to work, a million things have to go right. For it to fall apart, just one of them has to go wrong.”
Doing the right thing has to be enough in itself. It’s not about getting the pat on the head.
This, and similar statements, always resonate with me. Doing the right thing in this day and age of social media and 24/7 content has tarnished the "do good" mentality. Sometimes you can do the right/good/best thing without a picture or post to commemorate it; just doing it should be enough for a person.
