She fell onto her back, yellow cup in hand, and whispered, “Iocane powder. Inconceivable,” before drifting to sleep…or possibly to death.
Females didn’t use pet names. They didn’t like to keep animals. It wasn’t how things were done. Not to mention his own odd behavior as of late. He didn’t break the law. He didn’t lie to authorities. And he certainly didn’t get chills from a single word.
This guy might look like a god, but he had the personality of a sea urchin.
“I do care, but… ‘a lo hecho, pecho.’”
don’t like being toyed with, Alejandra. If I married you, it wouldn’t be to get out of a lie. And it wouldn’t be because you pity me or feel indebted or because you’re desperate. Don’t offer it again.”
Alex’s breath caught in her throat, and her sex clenched. She could feel something large and hard pressing into her back. “This is why,” he breathed into her hair. “Touching may be normal for you, but it isn’t for me.”
It only took one more shaky inhale, and Zed was on his knees in front of her. His hands clenched at his side. The need to reach out and pull her into his arms pulsed through him,
“What can I do?” he rasped, feeling each of her tears like a punch to the gut.
Only away from her for less than five minutes, and I feel lonely? Shit. Food would make her smile again. She loved to eat, so he’d get her some of his favorites to try and hope that sampling it all would at least distract her from her grief for a time.

As if his soul recognized he was lost for words, a purr suddenly rumbled through his chest.
His whole life he’d always felt needed. Needed as a soldier, as a brother, as a guard, sometimes as a male, but he couldn’t remember ever feeling wanted.
Wrapping his arm around her waist, he pulled her close. “You’ve converted me. If I had it my way, you would never stop touching me.”
As the first hints of alcohol hit his system and relaxed his muscles, he understood why some people enjoyed doing nothing. Nothing, if done with the right person, was like a balm for the soul.
No one mattered to him more than Alex, and at long last he agreed with the avaricious roars of his Traxian half.
“If I could only look at one thing as I lay dying, it’d be your face.”
No one would ever compare to Auzed. She was sure of it. He’d ruined her for all other men.
“And yes, I hesitated, but not because I’d be married to a demskiv. It’s because if we were together, I would worry about losing you every single day. So, thank you. You showed me I was spot on. I was going to lose you no matter what I did.”
