Ivy turned her head to the side, listening to the music he was making, to his beating hearts, to the storm; soon her fear, desire, and shame were far off things. She was warm and safe, wrapped in a protective embrace. A soft sigh crept past her lips as she was lulled to sleep. Ivy wasn’t home…but this was the closest she’d felt to it in years.
All Ketahn did know was that he no longer wanted a life without Ivy in it.
“It is not lazy to rest, “Ketahn said. Ivy lifted her other foot and poked him in the chest with her big toe. “I like the way you think.”
Ketahn growled. “The right words do not matter if a male does not do the right things. He was not worthy of you.” He caught her chin in his hand and angled her face up toward his. “You are worthy of so much more than a male like him could ever offer, Ivy.”
“I would see you clad in silk.” He dropped the leaf and cupped the underside of her jaw, angling her face toward his as he took her hips between two of his hands. “I will see you clad in my silk.”
Ketahn rumbled, “Now you are mine, my nyleea. My mate.” He smoothed a hand over her hair. “My heartsthread.”
Now Ketahn and Ivy were mates, they were bound, they were ensnared by one another.
