And after all this time, it seemed he was still trying to catch a little piece of the sun for himself.
It seemed he had lost more than his archabilities; he was missing self-control as well.
She scowled. How hateful that the man was so tall she had to crane her neck just to glare at him.
“I’ve been called worse.” Unusual wryness filled his tone. “Although I must admit . . . pissbucket was a first for me.” “I’m glad it was at least novel. It was the best I could come up with at the time.”
He leaned toward her, and she brought the fork to his mouth. Ignoring it, he tugged on her braid, tilting her face toward his, and ran his tongue over the seam of her lips.
“I have decided to keep you.”
Definitely a demon, she decided.
The gods had written lightning into his skin.
They would never be equals, not in this life. The disparity between them was as vast as the ocean separating the continents. But at that very moment, she knew she was the stronger one.
“I would rather live one mortal lifetime as your elorin de han than to see a thousand meaningless sunrises incomplete.”
