I was scared of labels. Much later I would realize that that is how the Left wins the narrative war. They control the labels, which are the crucial weapons in this war. It is they who decide who is an activist or a scholar or a liberal, and who is a goon or a troll or a fascist. You are expected to live a life yearning to earn the right kind of label from them, and by corollary, you are in constant fear of being stuck with the wrong label.
At the core of it, the secular state of India discriminates against Hindus by assuming that they can never be disadvantaged.
But a liberal in India is willing to be liberal only with people who don’t assertively identify themselves as Hindus.
those who are shameless call themselves Left-liberals, which is the most frequently used oxymoron in the entire world.
Much later in my adult life, I realized that this ‘lying for harmony’ was almost an acceptable practice in the secular world.
I can take a bet that you would not feel even the slightest discomfort if a person in front of you said that he was a ‘proud Sufi’ but you would conjure up all kinds of monstrosity in a person who identifies himself as a ‘proud Brahmin’. The supposed good deeds of the Sufis are meant to cancel all the bigotry and bloodshed by them, while no amount of good deeds by the Brahmins is enough to remove the albatross around their neck.
Secularism in India has remained so blatantly biased, with glaring double standards, that you have to be wilfully blind or blissfully ignorant to celebrate this charade.
The right of running educational institutions aimed at preserving one’s religious traditions and faith is available only to non-Hindus, as per Article 30 of the Indian Constitution.
Unlike Nehru, who was Left-leaning due to his ‘intellectual’ pursuits or ideological beliefs, Indira turned Left mostly due to realpolitik.
The Left knows how to appear cool, even compassionate, while planning to burn down the world.
The leftist used to be a pen-wielding jholawala wearing faded chappals at one point of time, but today’s leftist is often a mobile-wielding individual wearing torn jeans along with facial piercings. The constituencies of the Left and the Right have virtually been swapped.
The law states that ‘All organizations that are not actually Right wing will over time become Left wing.’
While liberals were adding letters to the gender identity rainbow, conservatives were adding castes to the Hindu identity rainbow.
Modi is a very lucky man in this respect. His opponents and his haters are always working overtime to make sure that most of the Modi supporters remain Modi supporters. It is not him who creates a polarized environment, his ‘critics’ do. Either you can be a Modi supporter or a Modi hater, there is no other option allowed.
