To Maegan, You’re to blame for the asshole crow. You’re also pretty spectacular.
Some would say I was more than a little fucked up. Cruel. They were right, of course. But I was a demon by trade. It was sort of in the job description.
Everyone was earning their way toward one of two things: retirement, or the chance to be recycled. Most wanted to be recycled.
On Earth, I’d been no one, but here—here I would be someone. Here, I already was. Sort of. It was an ongoing process.
“Really, Duke? You made my name Jessica Fury?” He snorted. “You have to have a first name up there. You can’t walk around telling people you are The Fury.” “Oh, come on. It’s not my fault—” “You picked the ‘Jessica’ of the Afterlife,” he finished for me. “I know, I know. I’ve heard it for decades. You still needed a name, and I may be dead, but my sense of humor isn’t.”
First, I had a mate. Now, I had a friend. This shit just kept getting harder and harder.
Teleporting on Earth caused motion sickness. Awesome. It wasn’t even noon yet. I really needed to catch a break.
