“I don’t want another life,” he said as a tear slid down his cheek. “In Helmfirth, I always dreamed of adventure, and when you came along and made me part of your crew, I thought I’d finally found it. Found the adventure I’d sought-after. But it was you I’ve been dreaming of all these years. There is no greater adventure than one of the heart.”
He’d once said that time would heal the wounds from me losing him, but he was wrong. No amount of time could ever take away the pain. There was no magical elixir that’d ever make me forget the hole in my chest of where my heart should be. Where he should be.
“Take your damn conch and release the man I love. I’d rather suffer for eternity than spend just one day without him. I’ve made my choice.”
“Whatever your heart desires is yours,” I answered, pressing my lips to the top of his head. “I’d give you the whole world just to see that smile.”
“I don’t want the whole world,” he said, pushing his head into the crevice of my neck. “All I want in this life is you, Kellan.”
