He was drinking black coffee and eating a breakfast of tomatoes, olives, borek and spicy Turkish sausage, wiping his greasy fingers on the edge of the white tablecloth, his feet up on the vacant chair, coat hanging on the back of his own.
I love the little descriptions like this, to be honest. It really helps pull everything together, mood-wise.
“How’re you feeling?” Carter asked. “Better,” Avery said. “You don’t look better.” “Thank you, Mr Carter.” “You know what I mean.”
