Ring Shout

With all the flag-waving and cavorting, you might forget they was monsters. But I hunt monsters. And I know them when I see them.

Chef grunts. “Reason and law don’t mean much when white folk want their way.”

Sadie seems like she only half listening, but then declares, “I say we go to Europe. See how they like getting carved up—beat up as they is after the war.”

“Did you find it? This source of hate?” His jaw tenses. “I have hunted it in the entrails of men. Brought back specimens for my lords to feast upon, for I have introduced them to this delicacy. Yet still, its source eludes me.”
