Most people go through life looking for maximum comfort and minimize any type of pain. We are spoiled. We are protected. We often choose the easy path, instead of the right path. When the pressure or pain is too great, we slow down or even stop in our tracks.
100-mile long races, and the training required prior—no matter the weather conditions—taught me early on to “suck it up.” I built up a tolerance for pain and resistance and that ability led me to deal with less than comfortable situations in my life.

It’s easy to think positively when we have moderate success, support, and access to resources. The real test is staying positive when we don’t.
positive thinking goes far beyond optimism and draws from confidence, vision, and certainty. When we combine these powerful forces together, we turn ideas into actions, and these actions into results. Positive thinking is a sort of fuel that stimulates our minds and bodies while propelling us forward. How can we encourage positive thinking at all times and in all circumstances?
We must first focus on the positive and brush away doubts, hesitations, and fears. For example, someone might conclude that he or she could have started sooner on a project. That’s clearly a negative thought. Instead, they should consider that starting later on this project allowed them to become wiser, and better prepared to go after their dream. In other words, the time wasn’t wasted. It was invested in getting them ready for what’s coming next and increased their chances of success as a result. That’s a positive thought. Listen to your inner voice guide you in the most difficult times, when quitting seems the most reasonable option.
Be unreasonable, always. Seeing what is possible requires a vision of what the outcome is, and a willingness to accept failure after failure, not letting them discourage you from reaching that goal.
