I’m Famine. According to them, silent but deadly.
Just because you don’t look under the bed, doesn’t mean the monster isn’t there.
“Because she’s mine now.” My throat closes around the word. Mine. How long have I waited to say that out loud? Years. Fucking years.
This is the side of Cole he allows no one to see. The side where he’s ready to finish lives while he’s smiling.
“Because you’re my chaos, and I can’t survive without chaos.”
“I’m chaos?” “The worst of all. The most beautiful of all. And you know what? You might as well be the deadliest.”
That sound of laughter is as rare as a passing unicorn in Cole’s case. I wish I could somehow steal it and store it away for safekeeping.
“You’re the only thing I’ve never been able to think through.” My breath shortens, but I whisper, “Because I’m your chaos?” “Because you’re the reason I look forward to new days.”
She’s not supposed to be my calm. And yet, when her head falls on my back and her warmth mingles with mine, I realise she’s the only calm I’ve ever had in my life.
You made me obsessed with you to the point I can’t fucking breathe until I see you.”
Silver’s not only chaos, she’s also a goddess. The type everyone can watch from afar, but I’m the only one who gets to worship at her altar.
“Well, here’s the thing, Butterfly.” He leans over and brushes his lips against my nose. “I don’t mind self-destructing if it’s with you.”
I might be his chaos, but he’s also mine. My chaos and my safety.
“You told me to go home. You’re my home, Cole.”
“Because I love you, Cole. I’ve been in love with you since you found me in the park that day and pulled my hair and told me you wanted my firsts. I’ve loved you more through the years, and I hated every time I had to face the reality that I couldn’t be with you.”
When he demanded my firsts, I saved them for him. In return, he saved me his. We’re each other’s everything.
