“These violent delights have violent ends And in their triumph die, like fire and powder. Which, as they kiss, consume.”
I want Cain so drunk off lust he can’t see or think straight. I want to take everything from him and then bring him to his knees…both figuratively and literally.
It’s a shame the little lamb won’t realize she’s in the middle of a dangerous game until it’s too late. Obsession can be deadly. And the man she loves led her straight to the slaughterhouse.
Loving someone isn’t dangerous. Falling in love with the wrong someone is.
“You’re not capable of loving me the way I love you. You’re not capable of choosing me…you never will be. Even though I choose you with every single breath I take.”
Not only do I want her so much it physically hurts, but somewhere along the way, Eden became so much more than my stepdaughter. More than the desire I can’t indulge in. She’s my trusted companion. My loyal pet who waits at the door for me day in and day out. And despite how many times I’ve hurt her—that gorgeous face always lights up like the sun whenever I come home. She’s my secret superpower. My beautiful angel and my darkest craving. She’s a saint a man like me doesn’t deserve. But she’s also become…my greatest liability. It’s dangerous to want someone so much they can destroy you.
Because you can only be tethered to someone for so long before the cord begins to strangle you.
Because that’s all evil really is. It’s not the boogeyman or the monster under the bed. It’s not demons or hellfire. Evil is merely the absence of good.
know you have orders to follow and all, but I’d really appreciate it if you could give her a message.” “What’s that?” I straighten my shoulders. “Tell her I said—suck my dick.” I give him a menacing smile. “On second thought—tell her to learn how to suck one first. Maybe then her fiancé wouldn’t have to ask me to finish him
“Was for him,” he seethes. “But you’re not Cain’s anymore. You’re mine.”
Love isn’t powerful because it builds and restores. It’s powerful because it survives destruction.
I inhale her sweet scent. As many lies as I’ve told her, this isn’t one. Eden’s my end game. Always has been. Always will be. I’m livid as hell about her sleeping with Damien, and she’ll get punished for it—but I’ll never love anyone the way I love her.
There’s a reason for all the bad things we go through. Something that makes us realize the pain was worth it in the end. I found mine. I hope like hell you find yours one day, Eden.
“I wasn’t finished,” he murmurs, his lips tickling my ear. “Beauty is only the outside layer of a person, but you’re more than that. And if someone tries to make you feel inferior, it’s only because you intimidate them. Because they see the same thing I do when they look at you.” His blue eyes blaze. “You shine so bright you put the entire galaxy to shame, Eden.” All the air gets sucked out of the room when he stops dancing and cups my face. “And don’t you ever fucking forget it.”
“What’s the password?” “Cainisacocksucker1829,” I deadpan. “Goddamn prick,” he says under his breath as he marches toward the desk and sits down.
The hardest part of loving someone is knowing it won’t last forever. Sooner or later, one of you will have to let the other go. Because all things, good and bad, come to an end at some point. That’s the way shit works.
