“Worship was the main event,” he said, “because worship connects us to God in a way nothing else can” He told us that we were never too young to connect with God because there is no junior Holy Spirit.
As Brian Simmons once said, “Only those who touch the Scriptures in faith receive its promises.”
“Real worship defies definition, it can only be experienced. Worship was never intended by God to be the discussion of textbooks but rather the communion with God experienced by His loved ones.”
I leaned into this truth: worship is more than singing songs to God; it’s investing in our relationship with Him, even when we don’t feel like it or when circumstances are difficult. Worship acknowledges those difficulties and turns to God regardless. When we worship, we declare who God is and who we are through Him.
And since everything in the life of the believer hinges on your personal relationship with God, I grew dull. And in that dullness, compromise crept into my life.
I couldn’t control the size of my life, but I could control the size of my worship.
“Anyone can be thankful when things are going well, but to give a gift of thanksgiving and praise in the middle of crisis is a true test,” my dad said.
“In heaven there won’t be any pain, confusion or loss. So I embrace my moment of pain now and give Him praise in the midst of it. That’s offering I’ll never have a chance to give Him in heaven.”
