If you are committed to better disagreement, you generally need a wider circle of friends, which is easier said than done. That means going places outside your traditional circles and making the effort to get to know people with different values in a deep way. This is hard, not just because you have to find them, but also because you have to listen. (Our society has become pretty incompetent when it comes to listening.)
