There were people in this world who couldn’t feel big unless they were making someone else feel small.

“Talk to yourself like you’re your own best friend and those other voices will leave you alone.”

“Be beautiful. Be fun. Be busy. Be excited. Be you. Everyone else will eventually catch up. You just have to give them something else to see.”

I don’t even know what I think about myself. Am I smart? Am I organized? Am I a good person? Or am I just a collection of all the damage I’ve allowed someone to do to me? And if so, how do I become my own hero? Because I’m ready. I’m done being damaged and fragile and careful and scared. I’m done.

“You can’t put your worth in someone else’s hands like that. Whether those hands are stroking you or hurting you. It doesn’t matter. Your value comes from inside. Whether you mean something to him or not has nothing to do with how inherently valuable you are.”

“Well, tough shit. Until you get right in the head, I’m going to make it my life’s mission to guide you in the right direction.”

“Maybe you’re meant to heal together?”

She wasn’t that girl anymore. She wasn’t the broken woman anymore either. She was someone new.

“When you try to fix things for other people, you’re basically saying you don’t believe in their ability to fix it themselves. You’re telling them you don’t believe in them. Respect them. Trust them.”

“You can’t control everything and everyone. You can’t make everything perfect and everyone happy. You can be happy and make good choices for yourself.”

“I really don’t have to fix everything?” He shook his head. “Only the things you break.”
