Odd, how you spend five years going to the same place every day, and then it’s over, you never go there again.

time-wasting vortex where you find yourself poring through the wedding photos of someone you’ve never met instead of meeting a work deadline;

“It’s hard to quantify. Leaving her out of stuff, not telling her about things until it’s too late for her to go, undermining her confidence in the way she looks.

“Have you been into the school?” I manage. “Oh yes, several times. They’re doing their best, but like I said, it’s subtle. There’s only so much they can do. Friendship issues, they call it. Funny kind of friendship.”
