John Hopfield showed that Hebbian learning allowed his oversimplified artificial neural network to store lots of complex memories by simply being exposed to them repeatedly. Such exposure to information to learn from is usually called “training” when referring to artificial neural networks (or to animals or people being taught skills), although “studying,” “education” or “experience” might be just as apt.
